General

In line with changes to Government guidance, passengers travelling on the Phone ‘n’ Ride Service will be required to wear a face covering from today, Monday 15 June.

Passengers without a face covering when boarding will be encouraged to use a scarf or piece of clothing while travelling on board.

Face coverings, in line with guidance, are not required to be worn by children under the age of 11 or those who may find it difficult to wear one correctly, such as passengers with breathing difficulties, young children or disabled passengers. If you are unsure if you need to wear one, contact the Booking Team for advice.

The service initially restarted on Monday 1 June, following discussions between North East Lincolnshire Council, ENGIE and Stagecoach East Midlands, and continues to support local residents with journeys such as travelling to and from work, attending medical appointments and shopping trips.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “Since the service returned earlier this month, our partners have introduced strict cleaning and social distancing measures on board, plus a reduction in the amount of passengers onboard at one time.

“The service being able to operate door to door is essential in allowing us to protect the elderly and most vulnerable when travelling across North East Lincolnshire. I would encourage residents in North East Lincolnshire who are concerned about travelling during COVID-19 to speak to the Phone ‘n’ Ride Team about your travel requirements.”

You can make face coverings at home, details on how to do this are available from Government at www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-wear-and-make-a-cloth-face-covering/how-to-wear-and-make-a-cloth-face-covering.
