General

AN overnight closure of the A1173 near Immingham will be in place next week as work progresses well on the construction of a new roundabout and associated highway improvements.

The full closure will be in place from 7pm on Monday August 17 to 6am on Tuesday August 18 between the junction of the A180 and the CATCH roundabout – the location of the current one-way system. Local diversion signs will be in place taking people on and off the A180 via the Brocklesby interchange.

During the night, the one-way system will be switched to the other side of the carriageway, which is necessary as work continues on the new roundabout. The one-way system will then remain in place until the work’s completion, which is scheduled for December.

As reported, the A1173 upgrades are part of North East Lincolnshire Council’s SHIIP, (South Humber Industrial Investment Programme) programme and funded by the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), supported with £1.6m from the Government’s Local Growth Fund. This was secured by the Humber LEP and is part of the Government’s commitment to the Northern Powerhouse. The new roundabout will provide access to the new Stallingborough Business Park, which is also being developed under the SHIIP banner.
