General

A SECTION of Grimsby’s Frederick Ward Way will be closed to traffic overnight on Thursday, August 27, to allow for the safe removal of a lighting column.

Diversion signs will be in place from 8pm on Thursday, 27 August through to 5.30am on Friday, 28 August, so that the column can be removed safely. It sits on the central reservation near the main crossing/traffic lights at the junction with Victoria Street South, just outside the Freshney Place Car park, which is currently closed.

A diversion route will take vehicles heading east to Peaks Parkway left down Alexandra Road, right over Corporation Road Bridge and back onto Victoria Street down to Peaks Parkway.

Coming off Peaks Parkway, the road will be closed just after the turning into Victoria Street South with no access to the B&M car park. The store shuts at 7pm and has been informed.

The work, being undertaken by McCann and managed by North East Lincolnshire Council’s regeneration Partner ENGIE, is part of the £3.5m Garth Lane project that is currently underway on both sides of Frederick Ward Way. It is supported by the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (HLEP), and The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government with funding released as a result of the Grimsby Town Deal.
