Highway drain maintenance to take place in Ashby cum Fenby

General

Routine drainage maintenance to a highway drain under Main Road, Ashby cum Fenby, is due to start on Tuesday 27 October.

The maintenance work is essential as, during periods of heavy rainfall, this area is prone to flooding on the highway.

Engineers have identified this is likely to be caused by root ingress in the highway drain, which is likely to worsen if left unattended. The works will involve removing the roots and relining the drain to prevent any further damage.

Due to the narrow nature of Main Road, small sections of the road will be closed between Chapel Lane and Ashby Lane from Tuesday 27 October to Friday 30 October. Closures will be in place each day between 9am and 4pm, restricting access to through traffic.

Access to properties will be maintained as much as possible but there may be short periods of waiting as works take place. Emergency access will be maintained at all times. A signed diversion route will also be in place.

On Monday 2 November, temporary traffic lights will be in operation at the Ashby Lane and Main Road junction as the final high pressure jet cleaning and CCTV inspection of the drainage system takes place.

The works will be managed and overseen by the council’s regeneration partner, ENGIE, with contractor, A Jet, carrying out the works.

North East Lincolnshire Council, ENGIE and A Jet would like to apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause.
