Drainage maintenance works to start in Waltham

North East Lincolnshire Council and its regeneration partner, ENGIE, are planning to carry out highway drainage maintenance on a section of Cheapside in Waltham, close to the Cheapside Training Ground.

Works will be starting on Monday 2 November and are planned to take three days to complete.

The works are required after observations found that water flows from the road and onto the driveways and front gardens of nearby properties during periods of heavy rainfall.

Engineers have identified the main cause of this is the height of the dropped kerbs which were re-aligned in a previous resurfacing scheme – with the issue further heightened by vehicles parking on the grass verges affecting the drainage effectiveness.

The maintenance work, starting next month, will re-establish the appropriate kerb height and install measures to support the drainage effectiveness on the nearby grass verge to address the flooding issues.

To ensure the safety of the workforce, temporary traffic lights will be in place between 9am and 4pm each day. Resident access will be maintained at all times throughout the works.

The works will be managed and overseen by the council’s partner, ENGIE, with contractor, EC Surfacing Ltd, carrying out the works.
