Emergency works to fix a sink hole discovered on Tuesday evening on Bargate, between the Abbey Road and Westward Ho junctions, are now complete and the road reopened during the daytime.

The planned overnight road closure for this evening will remain in place as the contractor completes the carriageway resurfacing scheme.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “I would like to pass on my thanks and appreciation to our partner, ENGIE, and the contractor for working swiftly and getting this road back open as soon as possible.

“We all appreciate the impact traffic management can have on our road network and I am pleased we were able to fix this sink hole and safeguard our infrastructure, allowing us to complete the carriageway resurfacing scheme without further impact or delay.”

North East Lincolnshire Council and its regeneration partner, ENGIE, would like to thank road users for their continued support and patience whilst works were completed.
