On Monday 18 October, work will start on the installation of the new public art lighting project, Luminations, on the North Prom in Cleethorpes.

Luminations is an animated light artwork by Esther Rolinson that will sweep along the North Prom. It has been developed in collaboration with architectural lighting specialists The Lightlab.

During the works, pedestrian and vehicular access will be maintained at all times. There will be occasions when a cherry picker is required and will be sited on the carriageway, but suitable safety arrangements will be put in place to protect the public and the workforce whilst allowing traffic to pass one at a time. In addition, some parking bays will be suspended to allow a safe working area.

As previously reported, the Luminations project is part of the Coastal Communities Fund project, which is providing public art installations along the North Prom including the exercise furniture and the shutter art, both installed over the previous year.

With financial support from the Coastal Communities Fund, North East Lincolnshire Council and CoastNEL, which represents the private, cultural and third sectors, the scheme is being managed by the council’s regeneration partner EQUANS.

The installation works are anticipated to take around three weeks. Throughout the works, the street lighting will be switched on as normal at night-time.
