Vandals damaged a set of well-known shelters in Cleethorpes at the weekend.

Council staff discovered the damage at the four Kingsway shelters on Sunday.

Graffiti tags have been scrawled over one shelter and the windows and surrounds smashed or removed at the other three.

If you know anything about what happened, please contact the police using the non-emergency number 101 and quote the crime reference 16/124197/21.

Cllr Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for Environment and Transport, said:

“We spent about £25,000 refurbishing all four shelters earlier in the autumn, so it’s all the more disappointing for this to happen now.

“They’ve had extensive roof repairs carried out at all four shelters, the timber and glazing has been replaced and they were repainted.

“The shelters are here for everyone to enjoy, it’s not acceptable that they are treated in this way.

“If you have any information about who damaged the shelters, please get in touch with the police.”
