This month, the Reflections Tea Rooms at Grimsby Crematorium is celebrating its first birthday.

Since it first opened its doors in August 2022, an estimated 30,000 customers have enjoyed a warm welcome and first-class service.

Some of their most popular options are their celebrated breakfasts, sausage buns, and wide array of delicious homemade cakes.

Reflections is open seven days a week from 9am to 4pm, for hot drinks, sandwiches, light bites, and cakes.

Along with the assortment of treats, the tea room offers a function room that can accommodate up to 32 people.

The function room is found on the first floor and can be used to host meetings, training sessions, wakes, workshops, and other activities, with the balcony and garden spaces also providing areas for get-togethers.

The stylish tea room nestles in the tranquil and picturesque surroundings by the entrance to Grimsby Crematorium. The building is secluded using existing hedges and is architecturally respectful of the services being carried out in the Crematorium building.

Councillor Swinburn, portfolio holder for Environment and Transport, said:

“Firstly, I’d like to thank all the visitors for supporting this local venture and the staff who are doing a terrific job to make it so popular in its first year. I wish them every success in the years to come.

“Reflections Tea Rooms is part of an ongoing transformation project to improve our services for bereaved families and the wider community.”

Here’s what some of the customers had to say:

“Friendly staff, first-class service would highly recommend.”

“Lovely food, coffee wonderful, excellent value for money. We will be back!”

“Fabulous chocolate cake and a lovely café with lovely people serving.”

NELC’s bereavement services team and Council’s regeneration services partner, EQUANS, refurbished the former Crematorium Lodge, which had stood empty for several years, to bring it back into use as a tea room. The building was originally used as a gatehouse and accommodation for the groundskeeper.

Reflections was officially opened on Monday 1 August 2022. It was given its name following a public vote in 2020.
