Inclusive Solutions’ are a team of psychologists and associates who specialise in mainstream inclusion for disabled and challenging children and adults. We make available cutting edge practical strategies and ideas for developing effective inclusion in local mainstream schools and communities. We use ideas that have been developed internationally and adapt them to the UK context. We work with anyone who wants to bring about the real systems changes that are necessary to move towards a truly inclusive society.

Colin Newton and Derek Wilson are Co-founders and Directors of Inclusive Solutions. Together they have a combined experience of over 65 years experience as educational psychologists working across the UK.

For 15 years since founding Inclusive Solutions they have offered a range of inspiring inclusion oriented services including casework, person centred planning, innovative training and community building. Previously as Principal and Senior strategic Educational Psychologists in Nottingham City LEA, they bring a wealth of practical, applied solutions and processes from their work with children and young people with exceptional needs aged between 0-19.

Together they have written several books such as: ‘Creating Circles of Friends‘,’ Circles of Adults, ‘Restorative Solutions‘ and ‘Keys to Inclusion‘. Inclusive Solutions is also a small publishing house and has published a number of books for other leading internationally renouned inclusive authors including: Incurably Human, Taking the Time, Seeing the Charade and Dear Parents.

They have planted and built Community Circles in Nottingham, Scotland and Suffolk. They continue to co facilitate Nottingham NG Circle which has been running for over 8 years.

Currently they are providing training nationally and internationally and writing a new book on person centred planning. They are also publishing a book of poetry written by a group of young people who do not use spoken words – Quiet Riot.

CARE Shop exists to provide furniture free of charge to those who are not able to access help via the normal channels and have exhausted the benefit system, including the social fund. Stock is donated from North East Lincolnshire residents, mainly from newspaper advertisements, and either sold through the shop to raise funds to cover overheads or donated to those in need.

All manner of beds, tables and chairs, three piece suites, wardrobes, pots and pans and clothing can be accessed at CARE Shop, and subject to satisfactory application and interview will be donated free of charge. A loyal team of staff and volunteers can often arrange delivery within 24 hours, and hundreds of families and single people from all parts of the NE Lincs community have been given a 'kick start' through the services of CARE Shop.

With the good will of the local community CARE has been given over £1.2 million of goods with over £150,000 of second hand value furniture being given away to local families, since the shop was opened in 1992. With it's excellent double frontage it continues to be an access point for disadvantaged and vulnerable people to approach the charity for help, with over 400 applications each year.

Our areas of work
We take action in three ways.

Intervention. Anyone can get trapped in poverty, abuse or violence. When we spot problems, we take action early. We step in to help children, young people and families before things get worse.

Prevention. We give young people the support they need to grow up safe and happy. Projects like The Blues Programme teach important life skills and help to build resilience. It’s simple and it works.

Advocacy. Children don’t have a say in many things that affect their lives. We listen to what they want. We take their concerns to the government. And we campaign for better support and resources.
