4:08 pm, Tuesday, 23rd April 2024 - 5 months ago

General

The first part of the A180 structures scheme has been completed, with the eastbound carriageway of Gilbey Road Bridge (from Pyewipe roundabout to Westgate roundabout) re-waterproofed and resurfaced. Work is also underway below deck on both Gilbey and Cleethorpe Road Bridges.

On 24 and 25 April, there will be two full night closures from around 8pm each day until 6am on the following morning on Gilbey Road Bridge.

On the first night, the traffic management arrangements will be changed so that traffic will use the eastbound side of the bridge from Wednesday morning (25 April). On the second night, the temporary road studs will be moved to help drivers with the new alignment, particularly during night driving. . Local diversions will be in place

Work will then start on the westbound side of the bridge to repair and waterproof the deck to preserve it for years to come.

Once the main work on Gilbey Road Bridge has been completed, above deck works work will move to Cleethorpe Road bridge, near Riby Square. However, further work will need to be done later in the year on Gilbey Road Bridge to improve the central safety barrier. Details of this work will be released when dates are confirmed.
