The National Armed Forces weekend is spread right throughout Cleethorpes this year, so we thought we’d shine a light on the activities down at Meridian Showground!

The showground is open all weekend – Friday to Sunday – and has all sorts of military ground based vehicles on show, as well as supporting traders and military stands.

Friday 27 June: open 12noon to 5pm: display of military vehicles*: Chieftain Tank, Foden recovery vehicle, DAF 4T, several Land rovers and jeeps, Spartan CVRT, Scorpio and Scimitar CVRT, Fox CRW, Ferret ARC and Daimler Dingo.

Saturday 28 June and Sunday 29 June: open from 10am to 6pm: display of vehicles and a full programme of events.

Alongside the vehicles, there will be two displays by the 16th Lancers Display Troop in the arena each day. This brilliant troop display their cavalry skills around the country and will be performing during the weekend. There will also be some mock re-enactment “battles”, music and entertainment at Meridian too, and a welcoming environment for veterans and serving personnel and their families throughout the day. On Saturday, a sunset ceremony will close the evening.

Please note, many of the military vehicles will be taking part in the parade on Saturday so will not be on site for a few hours on the Saturday.

To get to Meridian, you can either take a leisurely stroll down to the site (What3Words: silly.bubble.chemistry), or you can catch the vintage shuttle buses that will be running from the leisure centre to the site most of the weekend (except for 1pm to 3pm on Saturday) when the event is open.

Visit www.afmet.co.uk to find out more about the whole weekend and plan your visit. Timings are subject to change.

*Please note, vehicles may be subject to change if there are unexpected mechanical failures.
