Freshney Place will welcome a Barclays Local into the centre this Autumn, as it moves from its current location in Grimsby Town Hall.
The new facility at Freshney Place will give customers access to face-to-face banking support while enjoying the additional shops and services.
Barclays Local represents another step in the North East Lincolnshire Council owned centre’s continued evolution. Offering a blend of retail, cafes, health services and soon leisure and entertainment – when the new extension opens – the shift reflects the changing way people use town centres.
A Barclays spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to be bringing Barclays Local to Freshney Place, giving customers continued access to face-to-face banking in the heart of Grimsby. This move ensures we can remain part of the local community, providing convenient support and services where people live, work and shop. We look forward to opening our doors this Autumn and welcoming both existing and new customers.”

Barclays Local joins Freshney Place’s growing mix of national and independent retailers, cafés and restaurants, alongside a range of services including a careers centre and the Community Diagnostic Centre. This creates a destination that continues to evolve in line with the needs of visitors.
The announcement comes as work continues on the centre’s leisure extension, which will introduce a new cinema, leisure attractions and a modern market hall, further strengthening Freshney Place’s role at the heart of the community.
