Cyclists have flocked in their numbers to get free bike safety checks and equipment at the Be Safe, Be Seen events.

North East Lincolnshire Council and its delivery partner, Equans, teamed up with the Cycle Hub Lincs team to deliver the events at a number of new venues. These new venues have been a total success with five out of the seven events being completely sold out in a short space of time.

The Cycle Hub Lincs team carried out free bike safety checks whilst also giving away free cycle safety equipment and providing information about cycling in the borough.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “I am delighted to hear these events have done so well. It’s extremely important to keep safe whilst cycling, especially in the winter when there are added challenges of poor weather conditions and dark nights. I’m really pleased to hear people are travelling actively despite the change in weather.”

Anthony Snell, traffic and transport manager at Equans, added: “We’ve been doing Be Safe, Be Seen events for a couple of years now and it’s great to see these events getting more popular each year. We would like to thank everyone for coming to the events and we hope to put on more similar events in the future.”
