Retailers in Cleethorpes town centre are hosting a free Monster Trail for some family fun over the coming weeks.

DiscoverNorthEastLincolnshire has created a unique trail which challenges families to find the 24 cute monsters, hand painted by local children, in the windows of shops in Cleethorpes.

The monsters will be hiding in the windows of 24 shops in the resort which have been dressed in an Autumn theme. This also forms part of a shop window competition and the public will be able to vote for their favourite Autumn-dressed window via Facebook on @DiscoverNorthEastLincolnshire.

As part of the trail, there’s a special online competition with the chance to win a £50 voucher to spend at participating monster trail businesses.

Each monster will have a letter on it. Collect them all and unscramble the letters on the monsters to create a phrase. And once you’ve completed the phrase, you can enter the competition online at discovernel.co.uk/autumn. You can pick up your guide to the trail from any participating business, or you can download it from the website.

The trail will be active from Thursday 21 October every Tuesday to Saturday (inclusive) until 6 November.

Cllr Procter, Cabinet member for tourism, said: “As we all recover from the effects of the last 18 months, this is something fun for families to get out and enjoy as we head into Autumn. The trail will also help visitors and locals find shops and businesses they might not have visited before, and encourage the ethos of shopping locally.”

Rachel Holman from the Paint Box said: “We’re really looking forward to seeing the children paint the Monster with us and then getting out and about hunting them down in the shops windows.”

The Monster trail has been funded via the Government’s Welcome Back Fund, part of the ERDF funded covid recovery scheme across the UK.
