In preparation for the elections on Thursday, 2 May, North East Lincolnshire Council is holding a face-to-face briefing session for prospective candidates who are considering standing for election, as well as their election agents.
This year, there are elections in 12 of our 15 wards (not Waltham, West Marsh or Wolds).
There will be two briefing sessions held ahead of these elections
North East Lincolnshire Council elections: candidates and agents:
- 19 March 2024 at 5:30pm, Grimsby Town Hall (pre nomination)
- 10 April 2024 at 5:30pm, Grimsby Town Hall (post nomination)
The two briefings will cover the following:
- election timetable – including changes to dates
- qualifications
- disqualifications
- nominations
- appointment of election, polling and counting agents
- postal votes – including new rules for postal vote handling
- Digital imprints for printed and online materials – new this year
- Voter ID
- polling day – explanation of how it will work
- counting of votes – key dates and times
- candidates’ expenses.
If you are thinking of standing as a candidate, particularly if you are new to the nomination and elections process, you are strongly urged to attend the briefing sessions which will last for approximately one hour each. You will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of each session.
