North East Lincolnshire Council and its delivery partner, Equans, are carrying out carriageway resurfacing and civil works on Taylor’s Avenue, between Hewitt’s Circus Roundabout and Chichester Road.
Works will begin on Tuesday 27 August and will be completed on Saturday 28 September.
The works will be carried out in two phases, as detailed below:
- Phase one – Civil works (Tuesday 27 August – Friday 20 September) – The first phase of works will include, replacing damaged road gullies, traffic islands, drainage channels and kerbs, and installing new tactile paving and a new raised bus stop. These works will be carried out under temporary traffic control between 7:30am and 6:00pm.
Please be aware that there will be a 24 hour road closure on Lynton Rise at the junction with Taylor’s Avenue from 09 September for 2 weeks. This closure is required to install a new pedestrian tactile crossing point.
- Phase two – Carriageway resurfacing and road marking (Tuesday 17 September – Saturday 28 September) – The second phase of the project will involve carriageway resurfacing and road marking work, which is due to start on Tuesday 17 September and scheduled for completion on Saturday 28 September.
To enable the works to be carried out and ensure the safety of the contractors, an overnight road closure will be in place each night between 7pm and 6am for the resurfacing. During the closure, access across Taylor’s Avenue, between Middlethorpe Road and Belvoir Road will be maintained.
During the closure vehicular access will be maintained for residents of Hewitts Manor from Hewitts Circus Roundabout only. There will be no other vehicular access permitted during the works as alternative routes of access are available.
During the works, on street parking will be temporarily suspended within the closure extents. Please support the contractor by not parking vehicles on the carriageway or footway in the works location to ensure a safe working area is maintained and delays to the works programme avoided.
If the works are delayed due to parked vehicles, additional nights of road closures will be required to enable the works to be completed. Footway access will be maintained at all times.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works. Although every effort will be made to minimise disruption throughout the works, please be aware some elements will be noisy.
The council, Equans and contractor, Specialist Surfacing Ltd, would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience and assure you that the work will be completed as quickly and safely as possible.
