The spirit of community and togetherness was on full display as over 100 participants from North East Lincolnshire Council’s Fostering service and Family Hubs took part in the Cleethorpes Carnival. The event brought together families, carers, and residents in a spectacular celebration of unity and support.
The carnival saw an impressive turnout, with staff and families from Family Help, Young Carers, and Young and Safe programs, as well as members of the Fostering community, including foster families and children. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for everyone to celebrate with the local community and raise awareness about the vital services offered by the Family Hubs and the call to recruit more foster carers in the borough.
The seven Family Hubs across the borough offer a range of activities and support for families, children and young people including a drop-in for Infant Feeding, a bookable sensory room and a range of baby classes.

In the past 18 months, North East Lincolnshire Fostering has undergone a complete rebrand to increase awareness and encourage more residents to consider fostering. The campaign, which includes the Foster Friendly business initiative, has seen remarkable success with over 150 local businesses and 40 schools signing up to pledge their support to the local fostering community.
A record number of floats took part this year with representation from community groups, local businesses and organisations, and public services.
The sun shone brightly as crowds gathered in their hundreds to cheer on the participants and enjoy the impressive displays. The carnival procession made its way down Alexandra Road, culminating near the Cleethorpes Leisure Centre. The event was a true testament to the community spirit that thrives in North East Lincolnshire.

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, Portfolio Holder for Children’s and Education said:
“The Cleethorpes Carnival perfectly showcased our community spirit. Seeing families, including Foster Families, carers, and residents come together to celebrate and support our vital services was truly heartwarming.
“Their dedication and hard work continue to make a significant difference to lots of people in our area.”
Ann-Marie Matson, Director of Children’s Services for North East Lincolnshire was part of the carnival and said:
“Participating in the Cleethorpes Carnival was a truly moving experience. Seeing our community come together in such a vibrant celebration filled me with immense pride.
“Our Family Hubs and Fostering teams work tirelessly to support local families, and this event beautifully highlighted the positive impact they have on so many lives.”
