In a heartwarming display of compassion, courage, and community spirit, 8-year-old Eloise Morris is proving that age is no barrier to making a big difference.
Diagnosed with multiple forms of epilepsy—including Jeavons Syndrome, Sunflower Syndrome, and myoclonic jerks—Eloise faces daily challenges that would overwhelm most. Yet, she continues to shine as a beacon of hope and kindness in her community.
Despite experiencing over 60 seizures a day, Eloise has channelled her experiences into powerful acts of advocacy and fundraising.
Her most dazzling initiative to date? The creation of ‘Mini Ravers’, a SEND-friendly disco designed to be inclusive and epilepsy-safe.
With no strobe lighting and a welcoming atmosphere for all, these events raised an incredible £1700 for Epilepsy Action and Baby Bank and another raising £1400 for local schools and groups for sensory equipment and Epilepsy Action.
But Eloise’s mission doesn’t stop at fundraising. After noticing that some children were unsure how to approach her due to her condition—especially when her head shakes in the sun due to Sunflower Syndrome—Eloise and her family took action. They secured funding to donate books on hidden disabilities and diversity to local primary schools, helping children understand that it’s okay to ask questions, to be curious, and most importantly, to be kind.
Her family said, “Eloise wants every child to feel confident approaching someone who may have additional needs.
“She believes that understanding leads to friendship, and that’s something every child deserves.”
Her school joined her in raising awareness by hosting a Purple Day for Epilepsy, with staff and students donning purple and Eloise proudly dyeing her hair to match. Her vibrant spirit and determination have made her a role model among her peers.
Eloise’s story is one of resilience, empathy, and action. She dreams of hosting more inclusive events, raising awareness of SEND, and continuing to educate others about hidden disabilities.
As her hometown rallies behind her, Eloise stands as a shining example of what it means to lead with heart. Her journey reminds us all that even the smallest voices can spark the biggest changes.
