North East Lincolnshire Council

Activities

There are lots of activities for children and young people in the North East Lincolnshire area. They can be a great place for families and children and young people to make new friends, to be entertained, keep active as well as socialise or find support they may need at a particular point in their lives

You will be asked to complete a consent form  detailing your child’s personal data, their medical needs and additional needs they may have. They may ask additional permissions around using photos and videos (particularly with social media promotions/interactions) so please ensure you make these clear. Please fill these in and make sure you provide emergency contacts and keep them updated with any changes.

Keep a look out for Holiday activities on our facebook or twitter. These are good way to keep up to date with clubs, one off holiday activities and general things to do in the local area during the school holiday periods!

Search our FFIS activities directory to find out what is going on in the area.

What questions should I ask when I’ve found the activity I am looking for?

To keep families, children and young people safe is paramount so make sure you check whether a club or activity is well run! Well run clubs, will expect you to ask questions and will be keen to answer them.

Make sure you ask about staff; who they are and what their role and responsibility is at the club or activity. Ask yourself if there are enough staff at the session to supervise the children and check that staff are well trained in aspects such as First Aid and Safeguarding and that they are qualified to be delivering the session.  Check that staff have had a check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Check the Security of the building or location? Are there any risks? Do you know how incidents and accidents will be logged and is there a process? Are you aware of fire escapes and fire drills? Speak to staff if you have any concerns and check policies around drop off and collection at the beginning and end of the session.

Check that there is a process for processing concerns about a child and that there are safeguarding policies in place. You should be able to have a copy of these if requested.
