Clee Road highway revamp – project update

10:45 am, Monday, 2nd November 2020 - 4 years ago

General

Works remain as planned on Clee Road with the second phase of improvements coming to an end.

This phase has included upgrades to existing vehicle crossings between Isaac’s Hill roundabout and Davenport Drive, the relocation of the existing bus stop between Isaac’s Hill and Wollaston Road and upgrades to the existing traffic signals.

From Monday 16 November, the final phase of improvements will begin and will take two weeks to complete.

Works will be carried out in phases overnight under road closures between 7pm and 6am.

To minimise the impact to businesses and residents, the work areas have been split into three phases:

  • Phase one – Between Isaac’s Hill roundabout and Beacon Court. During this phase, access to Beacon Court will be maintained. The parking on Wollaston Road between Clee Road and 2 Wollaston Road will be temporarily suspended. The one-way street between Clee Road and Bursar Street will be temporarily signed as two-way to maintain access for residents.
  • Phase two – Between Beacon Court and Kelham Road. During this phase, access to Beacon Court will be suspended.
  • Phase three – Between Kelham Road and Davenport Drive. No additional restrictions, apart from the road closure.

The programme of works is:

Monday 16 November – Phase one, full road closure between 7pm and 6am, carriageway resurfacing works.

Tuesday 17 November to Thursday 19 November – Phase one, full road closure between 7pm and 6am. Phase two, full road closure from midnight onwards, carriageway resurfacing works.

Friday 20 November – Phase two, full road closure between 7pm and 6am, carriageway resurfacing works.

Saturday 21 November and Sunday 22 November – No works

Monday 23 November – Phase two, full road closure between 7pm and 6am, carriageway resurfacing works.

Tuesday 24 November – Phase one, full road closure between 7pm and 6am, carriageway resurfacing works.

Wednesday 25 November – Phase one, full road closure between 7pm and 6am, carriageway resurfacing works. Phase two and phase three, road closure also in place for road marking and high friction surfacing works.

Thursday 26 November and Friday 27 November – Phase one, two and three road closures in place for road marking, high friction surfacing works and the installation of traffic signal loops.

Dates are subject to change as the works are weather dependent.

Every effort will be made to maintain vehicle access to properties but there may be short periods of time when this will not be possible. Footway access will be maintained at all times. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained.

The works will be managed and overseen by the council’s regeneration partner, ENGIE, with contractor, Specialist Surfacing Ltd, carrying out the works.

The council, ENGIE, and Specialist Surfacing Ltd would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience and assure you that the work will be completed as quickly and safely as possible.
