Foster Families in North East Lincolnshire were invited to a tree-mendous Christmas party at The Trin Community Centre in Cleethorpes.
Children enjoyed a hot dog stand, candyfloss maker, popcorn machine and were invited to have their face painted in a festive design. A ‘snowball’ activity took place whilst festive music was provided by Dan from the Crazy Party Crew Planners. The highlight of the night was a visit from the big man himself… Each child was given a gift from Santa and had the opportunity to talk about their festive plans.
Earlier this year, The Trin signed up to North East Lincolnshire Councils Foster Friendly Business initiative which has reached almost 100 businesses since it’s inception in April. Staff from the centre joined in the festivities and made it a memorable evening for all who attended.
Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education said:
“It is wonderful to see one of our Foster Friendly businesses host this Christmas event for our Foster Families in the area. All families deserve some festive cheer in their lives, none more so than our Foster Families.
A huge thank you to the staff at The Trin for putting on a fantastic festive display and pulling out all the stops for our children and young people, and as always, thank you to our incredible Foster Carers who are changing the lives of young people not just at Christmas, but every day.”
Kerry Hillman, Community Manager at The Trin Community Centre said:
“Every year we like to host a Christmas Party for vulnerable children and after recently signing up to become a Foster Friendly business, we felt it would be really nice if we could invite children who are in foster care along to celebrate Christmas with us and the staff have really helped drive our vision forward to do this.
As an organisation we like to give back to our local community and hosting events like this really brings out our community spirit.
We hope all the children had a fantastic night and that we have helped make some incredible memories for them
We look forward to working with the fostering team again in the near future.”
The event was made possible by a donation from the local charity Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.
