The Corporate and Community parenting fortnight returns again this year, with more to offer for the children and young people in care – as well as those who support them – across North East Lincolnshire.

‘Corporate parenting’ is a phrase that describes the Council’s responsibility to ensure that all children living in our care, along with those who have grown up in care and are now adults, have support and access to opportunities. It’s about making sure they feel safe, valued, and inspired to have ambition.

From 26th October, North East Lincolnshire is again celebrating our shared responsibility in supporting all of those in our care across the borough.

For two-weeks, a range of activities will be hosted to bring people together in celebrating our care-experienced community. The fortnight is an opportunity to raise awareness and to inform people of the support available. It is a time to encourage the wider community to get involved.

There will be many different activities and celebrations taking place to bring partners, staff, and children together. From arts and craft days to award evenings, the programme is committed to hearing from children and young people and understanding what matters to them.

Ann-Marie Matson, Director of Children Services has said:

“We have an amazing line up of events and activities this year, for the children and young people in our care. We’re looking forward to celebrating the successes we have had this year with our wonderful young people.

“We encourage everyone to show their support in making this fortnight a memorable experience for all.”

Councillor Samuel Grice, deputy leader of North East Lincolnshire Council and portfolio holder for children and education, added:

“The fortnight is an important celebration for the children in our care and care leavers to show them our support.

“It is nice to see many people around us coming together to help in any way possible to give the young people in our care the best start in life.”
