Corporation Road Bridge – investigative works update

Investigative works are continuing this week on Corporation Road Bridge and the above water level works are almost complete.

The following works will all be complete by Friday 18 December:

• Testing of the bridge’s brick and steel
• Ultrasonic thickness testing
• Condition surveys
• Paint testing

However, due to water levels in the dock and advice from the Harbour Master, the dive inspections and under water testing required is unable to go ahead this week.

Specialist contractors will be returning on Monday 4 January to complete the outstanding under water testing works. This will take three days to complete, with no traffic management or disruption to residents or businesses.

The data gathered will allow engineers to carry out the final detailed design planning and prepare to submit for the relevant planning approvals in the early part of 2021.
