Corporation Road Bridge update: Footway closures and weekend working in December 2024

2:56 pm, Monday, 25th November 2024 - 5 months ago

General

Refurbishment works continue to the Grade II listed structure, Corporation Road Bridge, in Grimsby.

Recent works have seen parts of the scaffolding and encapsulation removed from the structure, whilst other areas have been covered over to protect the environment from debris.

Works to refurbish the control room are almost complete and grit blasting is in progress to the areas under the structure to enable inspections to take place to determine the condition.

To take advantage of anticipated low tide levels, weekend working will take place next month. Footway closures are also required whilst works are taking place adjacent to public areas to ensure the safety of both the public and the workers on site.

Footway closures will take place between 9am and 4pm each weekday. The footway will remain open during the weekend working dates. Temporary signs will be in place for the footway closures.

December 2024 weekend working and footway closure dates:

South Footway Closures

  • Wednesday 4 December
  • Thursday 5 December
  • Wednesday 11 December
  • Thursday 12 December
  • Tuesday 17 December
  • Wednesday 18 December

Weekend Working

  • Saturday 21 December and Sunday 22 December (provisional only)

North East Lincolnshire Council, its delivery partner, Equans, and contractor, Spencer Group, would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the work is being undertaken.

As Corporation Road Bridge is a construction site, it is important that the public respect the access restrictions in place, which have been introduced for safety reasons.  Members of the public are reminded to please stay outside of all encapsulated and other working areas for their own safety, as well as that of those working there.
