The essential heritage restoration works on Corporation Road Bridge, which will preserve the Grade II listed structure for many generations, is progressing.
Grit blasting works continue on the upper deck of the bridge and around the control tower. Taking advantage of recent low tide levels has allowed for some hand preparation works around the electric cables below deck to take place, as well as clean blasting works to the underdeck which have progressed as well.
The footway on the bridge will be closed to all pedestrians and cyclists on Monday 30 October and Tuesday 31 October, between 9am and 4pm, to allow for the safe construction of scaffold tunnels on the south of the walkway.
Once in place, this will allow the contractor, Spencer Group, additional access to complete clean blasting works. A short section of the footway will remain narrow whilst this work is underway.
Further short duration footway closures will be needed as the work progresses and updates on this will be provided in due course. Temporary signs will be erected.
North East Lincolnshire Council, its delivery partner, Equans and contractor Spencer Group would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the work is being undertaken.
