31 Early Years settings for children aged 0-5 have participated in Laulau Songdrawing training.
The training aims to support children’s journey towards achieving a Good Level of Development (GLD) in writing by fostering creativity and engagement through music, movement, storytelling, and mark-making activities.
A practitioner from Lisle Marsden Childcare who took the training said: “It’s had a really positive impact on the children who are all are highly engaged in the session.
“Even the children who don’t usually join in, or who skip from one activity to another enjoy it from start to finish so it has improved participation as well as listening and attention skills.
“It has prompted conversations and new vocabulary from the children, focussing on emotions and encouraging creativity and imagination.
“We delivered it once a week to different groups, so it remains new and exciting.
“A mixture of ages and abilities works best as the younger children are learning from the older ones.
“Our staff have cascaded the training to other staff at our setting who now deliver it independently to their own groups.”
Ann-Marie Matson, Director of Children’s Services said: “Laulau Songdrawing Method has been effective in nurturing children’s attention, curiosity, social and interaction and much more in a creative, imaginative and enriching way.
“This training has seen great results in young learners.
“This training is offered in addition to All About Attention, Curiosity Training, effective sensory environments, and a wide range of other training that settings complete.”
