Two national retailers have reinforced their commitment to Freshney Place in a welcome move that has boosted Grimsby’s flagship retail space.
Warren James has confirmed it will be reopening in a new home in Freshney Place this Saturday 1 February, and is encouraging customers to come and take a look around its prime new location at Friargate. Millets, the popular outdoor apparel retailer has also been rebranded Go Outdoors, taking on its parent group’s identity, as well as additional space by occupying the neighbouring unit.
“Freshney Place is performing well, and the commitment of these national brands reinforces this.
“It’s extremely positive to know that many of our brands, such as Warren James and Go Outdoors are reinvesting in the centre and committing to Grimsby. The mood amongst our tenants remains buoyant as we approach the development phase of the shopping centre, into a contemporary retail and leisure destination for the region”, said Amanda Austin, centre director.
A number of tenants, including New Look and Clarks have also committed to Freshney Place in the last 12 months, with healthy occupancy levels since North East Lincolnshire Council purchased the shopping centre in 2022. Freshney Place will also become the new temporary home for the Top Town Market, as development works get underway at its former site.
The NHS Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) is expected to open in Freshney Place this Spring, emphasising the aspiration of the Council to create a mixed-use destination for the community, combining retail and leisure with services at the one site.
