4:12 pm, Friday, 14th April 2023 - 2 years ago

General

Anglian Water have been working overnight under road closures to help repair a sunken carriageway and lining of the sewer on Waltham Road in Scartho.

During last night’s works, investigations showed the severity of sewer collapse was greater than originally expected. Therefore, further extensive repairs to the carriageway and sewer is required.

For safety of the public and to ensure that the full extent of the carriageway and underground infrastructure failure is repaired, a 24-hour road closure will be in place from Monday 17 April until Sunday 23 April to allow these emergency works to be carried out. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted.

Vehicular access will be maintained from the south to Springfield Road and Scartho Medical Centre car park and from the North to Gate Lane. Access to the shops will be in place, as well as a footpath for pedestrians.

Anglian Water will be placing advanced warning signs in the area.

To prevent further extensive works in the future, a new chamber will be installed ensuring alternative access is in place and preventing the need for a road closure.
