Emergency closure of footpath in Habrough

North East Lincolnshire Council and its regeneration partner, ENGIE, have temporarily closed a public footpath in Habrough.

Public footpath 3, between West End Road and Newsham Lane in Habrough, was closed on Thursday 20 May following safety concerns for pedestrians crossing the trainline along the route.

Due to the number of carriages on trains passing through the station, when stationed at the platform, pedestrians crossing the path are unable to see oncoming trains on the network and therefore not providing enough sighting time to cross the trainline safely.

Network Rail will be attending the trainline to identify and carry out the required works to improve visibility and create a safe crossing point for pedestrians using the route.

The footpath will remain closed for a period of six months to allow the necessary works to be carried out.
