A group which advises the Council, local schools, teachers and parents on issues around collective worship and religious education, is seeking new members.

The Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) groups exist across the country and were created under the 1996 Education Act.

Part of SACRE’s job is to review the religious education syllabus of local schools, consider complaints relating to religious education being delivered in schools, and monitoring the delivery of religious education and collective worship in schools.

The panel is made up of members of different faiths – particularly those which are prominent in the local area, representatives of the local authority and of local schools, and the Church of England.

Now the group are seeking new members to represent different faiths, and in particular world faiths.

If you are an active member of a faith in North East Lincolnshire, you could have a lot to offer our SACRE.
