The Fairfield Values
Our curriculum is underpinned by core fundamental values. These form the basis of everything we do in school. The Fairfield Four are:
• We ALWAYS aim high
• We ALWAYS have the confidence to try new things
• We ALWAYS value and support each other
• We ALWAYS show good sportsmanship and work as a team

Children who ALWAYS demonstrate these values, consistently, can be awarded an ALWAYS band.

In addition to the values we aim to:
• Encourage each pupil to reach their potential by developing qualities of self-discipline, motivation and commitment.
• Help pupils develop an understanding of their own identity and personal moral values
• Help pupils develop respect and tolerance of other races, religions, cultures and life-styles
• Help pupils to develop lively and enquiring minds, the ability to question and discuss rationally, to investigate and solve problems, and to effectively apply themselves to mental and physical tasks
• Guide pupils to acquire understanding, knowledge and skills relevant to adult life and employment in a fast changing world
• Help pupils gain competence in language, numeracy, information and communication technology skills (ICT), and scientific methodology, so that they can communicate effectively using these skills
• Help pupils understand the world in which they live and the interdependence of individuals, groups and society
• Help pupils to value aspirations and achievement
• Help pupils to understand the importance of developing a social responsibility towards those less fortunate than themselves

Vision Statement

We believe that good teamwork and positive partnerships with individual children, the whole class, our colleagues, with governors, parents and the wider community will lead to effective teaching, high standards and successful learning.

We believe that learning should be fun, purposeful and challenging. Through an effective curriculum we aim to equip each child with the skills they need for lifelong learning. We aim to develop confident learners, who take ownership of their learning are proud of their achievements and are well prepared for life in modern Britain through an developed understanding of British Values.

We believe that every child matters. Through positive attitudes, close partnerships with parents and the wider community we endeavour to develop the whole child, meeting individual needs in a safe and secure environment where differences are celebrated.

The Nursery runs a moring and afternoon session per day and you can attend either one of these for free. If you would like to attend both sessions there is a charge of £10.

Sessions run on; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

We believe that Nursery School is the first stage in your child's education and we hope that all our children and their families will find it a happy and positive experience. We aim to provide a happy and caring environment in which the needs of each individual are met.

When the children first start Nursery school, they will join a small group of twenty six children. Each group has two key workers and a teaching assistant who will support the children's learning during their time at Nursery School. All members of staff will always be willing to discuss any queries or problems you may have.

Talking with and listening to the children will feature greatly in our daily routine. We aim to build good relationships and to develop the children's self esteem and self-confidence. When a child feels valued and respected, he or she in turn will value and respect others.

Everyday activities may seem simple, but they enable children to practise what they have already learnt and also to extend their learning.
The introduction in September 2000 of the curriculum guidance for the Foundation Stage for children aged 3-5 indicates the importance the Government is placing on Early Years Education. This was replaced by the Early Years Foundation Stage document in 2008.

The Early Years Foundation Stage encompasses all that we aim to provide at Great Coates Village Nursery School.
Nursery Session Times
Morning Session 9.00am - 12.00am
Afternoon Session 12.10pm - 3.10pm.

Whilst we do not have a statutory school uniform, we do have various items of school wear with our school logo available to purchase through the office.

May we also please remind you to dress your child in sensible footwear and clothing which is easily washed. The children will be learning through doing at this stage of their development. This means that they will experiment with a wide variety of materials including glue, paint, sand, mud and baking ingredients. We do insist that the children wear aprons but accidents can happen!!

We would also ask that ALL clothing is clearly marked with your child's name.

Humberston Cloverfields Academy - Nursery
Schools / Nurseries
01472 500217
Humberston Cloverfields Academy , St Thomas Close , Grimsby , Lincolnshire , DN36 4HS

Sessions run on; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Our aim is to be an inclusive nursery where we welcome each child and their family, providing a caring, friendly, safe and stimulating environment. We work to build positive relationships between ourselves, the children and parents and carers to establish a sense of belonging. This supports trust and enables children to become confident to engage in ‘nursery life’ with their peers and practitioners to become independent and have a positive attitude to learning. Practitioners recognise that each child is unique and will develop and learn at their own rate and in their own way, therefore this is taken into when planning and providing experiences and activities.

At nursery a fun, enjoyable curriculum is delivered by way of learning through play and offering opportunities to engage in varieties of experiences and activities with a combination of adult directed and child initiated activities. Equal opportunity enables all children to partake and enables them to become confident and independent in their thinking and learning. The Early Years Foundation Stage, Development and Care for children from birth to five years provides the framework in which planning encompasses the seven areas of learning.

Morning sessions are 9-12.

Afternoon sessions are 12.30-3.30

A full day requires a child to bring a packed lunch and lunch starts at 11.45-12.30. The cost to stay for each packed lunch is £2.50.

Each 3 hour session costs £8.00 where sessions require payment. Payment is made through Parent Pay. An extra £2 a session is required for 2 year old, non-funded children.

A healthy snack is provided every session and drinks are available throughout the day and this costs £3.50 per half term.

At nursery we also accept child care vouchers.

Our Nursery provision applies to children from 3 to 4 years. Here at OAN children join our FS nursery the term after their third birthday (places permitting) and then continues until they start their reception year. The children in nursery attend 15 hours per week (funded by government). The students attend an AM (8.30am-11.30am) or a PM (12.15pm-3.15PM) session.

Early childhood is the foundation on which children build the rest of their lives. At OAN we greatly value the important role that the EYFS plays in laying secure foundations for future learning and development. We ensure that all aspects of the child’s holistic development are catered for and we believe it is vital that the first years of a child education are positive; therefore each child will be motivated to learn.

We believe that our children need to take ownership of their own learning in order to develop initiative, enthusiasm, resilience, problem solving skills and independence.

The EYFS looks at the prime and specific areas.

In nursery our main focus are the prime areas of learning to enable our children to be confident communicators to help them complete their EYFS journey in their reception year.

The surrounding housing is a mixture of private and rented accommodation.

The school was built in 1952 and is set in pleasant grounds with plenty of paved areas.

There are nine classrooms in the main school.
Six classrooms have a southern aspect, with large windows overlooking playing fields, and doors opening out onto the veranda.

Three additional classrooms have been built during 2000/2001.

The Nursery was built in 1976 and comprises two large working areas each with a quiet area, store room and toilet block. The Nursery has its own kitchen and staffroom, two large outside play areas and climbing equipment with soft landing.
The school has links with its neighbouring junior school, besides hosting The Nurturing Parents Group when required and a parent recourses group.

Children are admitted into the Nursery the term after their third birthday. The community that we serve is very diverse; children come from a wide variety of social backgrounds. We have very few children from ethnic minority backgrounds.
There are three classes in each year group. Pupils within each year group are placed in mixed ability classes. On occasions it may be necessary to have mixed year groups.

Our school operates a safeguarding policy through the DCFS ‘Guidance for Safeworking Practice for the Protection of Children and Staff in Education Settings’.QMA Infant and Nursery School, together with our parents, carers and local community, aspire to help every child become independent, resourceful and resilient learners.

Together we learn to:
- Value and respect everyone
- Work independently and also with others
- Develop our skills and talents
- Think clearly to help solve problems
- Always try our best
- Believe in ourselves
