Local landlords are set to benefit from some free online training opportunities thanks to a partnership between North East Lincolnshire Council and regeneration partner, ENGIE, DASH services and City of York Council.

A limited number of places on the two free training courses, which focus on developing the skills and knowledge of local landlords, will be on offer to landlords across the borough.

One of the courses available will be a Landlord Development foundation course, giving landlords the confidence to know that they are managing their tenants and property in a responsible way. The second, similar course is available and looks at the effective management of houses in multiple occupation (HMO).

With a limited number of spaces available, slots will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Once these are filled, additional spaces can still be booked, for a fee of £17 per space.

Councillor Callum Procter, portfolio holder for economic growth, housing and tourism, at North East Lincolnshire Council, said “We are pleased to be working with DASH services and City of York Council to offer this landlord development training for free to our local landlords.

“Now more than ever, landlords need to be aware of the essentials for managing a residential property to ensure properties are safe and up to a good standard for residents . Training gives landlords peace of mind that they are meeting their legal obligations and providing potential tenants confidence in the property.

“With limited spaces available, I encourage landlords to get in touch today and book a place.”

The training aims to follow the natural development of a tenancy from beginning to end and will cover all the main areas a landlord should know:

  • Pre-tenancy
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Inspecting your property
  • Setting up and during a tenancy
  • Ending a tenancy
  • HMO’s

Training is only available online and you must be a landlord with a property in the local area to take part. Once complete, attendees will be awarded an online certificate which will be recognised by the local authority as evidence of having completed relevant a training course.

For more information or to apply for a space, contact the Home Improvement team via email at [email protected] stating your name, email address and contact number.

Get in touch today to avoid missing out on a free space. Once you have signed up you will receive further instruction on when the course will be available to complete.

If no free spaces are available, you will be offered an admission fee of £17 per space.
