The paralympic Games are well underway with a number of North East Lincolnshire residents competing in them.

Grimbarians Zac Shaw and Hollie Arnold are representing team GB at the Paris games with Zac securing a bronze Paralympic medal in the T12 100m final.

With the 4 x 100m relay and Hollie’s F46 Javelin final still to come we could soon see another medal being brought back to North East Lincolnshire.

There are plenty of other sporting heroes that grew up in the borough including swimmer Brenda Fisher, boxer Kirtsy Hill and motorbike rider Guy Martin. If you want to learn more about them under one roof then make sure to take a visit to the Hometown Heroes exhibition at the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre.

Celebrating everything sport, the event looks at the origins of sporting stars, detailing the journeys from beginning to present day.

Additionally, why not learn about local groups who are helping to train the next generation of professional athletes in North East Lincolnshire.

The Hometown Heroes: A Celebration of Sport exhibition will be held in the Muriel Baker Gallery at Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre until 31December 2024. The centre is open Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 4pm.
