Stay ‘Loyal to Local’ and enjoy extra shopping days at Grimsby’s Top Town Market in the run-up to Christmas.

This festive boost, with Covid-safe shopping assured, will see traders offered the chance to open up their stalls for more days from Wednesday 2 December until Tuesday 15 December. The usual extra festive opening then begins and all stalls will be open on the extra shopping days running up until Christmas Eve.

As reported, during the latest lockdown, the market has only been open for the sale of essential goods. All that changes on Wednesday when all non-essential stalls allowed to trade again.

There are sanitiser stations at every market entrance, arrows guiding people around a one-way system and everyone is required to wear masks to ensure full compliance with safe shopping.

With all the traders being local, the market offers a wide variety of gift ideas for all the family including porcelain and china figurines, furniture and vintage interior accessories, greetings cards, books, electricals, slippers, clothing and of course GTFC merchandise for the football fan in the family. Grimsby Town opened its new pre-Christmas market stall just a day before the second lockdown and is looking forward to returning this week.

You can also buy everything you need for a great festive feast from the fresh produce stall holders, including seafood, all the Christmas meat you need, including turkeys and all your Christmas vegetables.

The extra hours are:

  • From Wednesday 2 December to Wednesday 23 December, all stalls on the market can open 9am-5pm, Monday to Saturday
  • On Sunday 20 December, the market will be open 10am-4pm
  • On Christmas Eve, the market will be open 8am-3pm

Top Town Market is a member of the Loyal to Local Scheme – a joint North East Lincolnshire Council and E-Factor campaign to promote and support local businesses.

Councillor John Fenty, portfolio holder for regeneration and skills, said: “There has never been a better time to show our support for all things local. Coming together as a community to support each other will shine a spotlight upon the positives that we can take from such challenging times.”

The market is managed by North East Lincolnshire Council’s regeneration partner, ENGIE.
