Local not-for-profit business, Grimsby Garden Centre has been chosen as a #SmallBiz100 company this year and has been showcased across Government’s Small Business Saturday’s social media channels.

Grimsby Garden Centre manager Craig Champion, said: “We’re so pleased to be one of only 100 to have made it on the list out of so many brilliant small businesses in the UK.

“We’ve put a lot of hard work into developing and growing the garden centre in recent years. We have doubled the size of the garden centre’s eatery and rebranded it as the popular Potting Shed, as well as starting our Grow with Us initiative, encouraging and equipping all primary schools in North East Lincolnshire to get out gardening. To be recognised for our achievements and celebrated at a national scale is brilliant and encourages us to push ourselves even further.”

The popular centre is owned and run by mental health services provider NAViGO. Turning profit for good, proceeds go back into the centre’s upkeep and supporting mental health services across North East Lincolnshire. Plus, the garden centre complex also offers training and employment opportunities to people from disadvantaged backgrounds and individuals with mental health difficulties.

Alongside this, the Small Business Saturday (SBS) tour comes to into Great Grimsby for the fourth time. As part of their 24-town and city tour across the UK, including this Thursday, there will be live-streamed interviews with inspirational local small businesses, virtual workshops and mentoring, daily Happy Hours on Instagram with amazing small biz prizes and much more!

You can follow this year’s zero emissions roadshow every weekday on the SBS social media channels and take part in their free online “The Tour” Webinars that cover a range of small business topics too.  The tour will be situated at St James’ Square in the morning from 10am to 12.15pm and at St Peter’s Avenue in Cleethorpes from around 12.45pm to 2pm.
