Homelessness takes many forms. You might be sleeping rough, you might be ‘sofa surfing’ from friend to friend, you might be staying with family temporarily.
- You are homeless if you do not have a home that you can legally occupy.
- You may also be homeless if you have a home but can’t secure entry to it or it is not reasonable for you to remain there.
We will always consider what we can do to try and prevent you from becoming homeless. However, we are legally bound to make further enquiries to determine what duty we owe you if we believe you are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We will always notify you of our decision in writing, and advise you of your right to request a review of that decision if you do not agree with it.
Depending on your circumstances we may be able to rehouse you temporarily if you have nowhere to go. Even if we cannot accommodate you temporarily, we will do everything we can to help you resolve your housing problems.
