General

Bus travel across North East Lincolnshire continues to cost just £2 a journey – and with half-term coming up, families are urged to hop on board and take a school holiday trip!

Until the end of March, people can benefit from low-cost travel with the Government’s £2 price cap on fares across the country (except London).

Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre, our leisure centres, Freshney Place Shopping Centre, Immingham Museum & Railway exhibition, or a day out in Cleethorpes, and more – if you’re out and about, why not look at taking the bus instead of the car? And if you’ve got friends or relatives who live a little further away – encourage them to take a bus for their visit to you as the low-cost travel extends to Hull, Lincoln and Louth too.

Here are the bus routes for North East Lincolnshire you can benefit from low-cost fares. The £2 is for a single fare:

  • 1, 2 and 20 – Wybers – Europarc – Grimsby – Cleethorpes
  • 3 – Cleethorpes – Grimsby – Morrisons
  • 4 – Cleethorpes – Grimsby – Morrisons
  • 5 – Immingham – Grimsby
  • 6 – Wybers – Grimsby
  • 7 – Grange Estate – Grimsby – Cleethorpes
  • 8 – North Sea Lane – Grimsby
  • 9/10 – Cleethorpes – Grimsby – Waltham
  • 12 – Bradley Park – Grimsby – Waltham
  • 25 – Grimsby – Market Rasen
  • 50 – Grimsby – Saltfleet
  • 51 – Grimsby – Louth
  • 53 – Grimsby – Lincoln
  • 250 – Cleethorpes – Hull

The offer can also be used on the council’s Phone n Ride service – an on-demand bus service with no fixed route or timetable. You make the bookings and tell us where you want to go. Phone n Ride buses run in both the rural and urban areas of North East Lincolnshire. The service runs from Monday to Saturday between 6:30am and 6:30pm.

You can register and book a Phone n Ride journey using our online portal:

You can also register and book a journey by telephone on (01472) 324440 from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm (except bank holidays). Journeys can be booked up to 14 days in advance.

From 1 January, the Government introduced a £2 capped single bus fare in England (outside of London). Participation in the scheme is voluntary and some bus companies chose not to take part, but most major bus operators offer it, so be sure to see if you can still take advantage of the offer, even if you’re going away for a staycation this half-term.

The initiative is currently set to run until 31 March 2023.
