The Holly Jolly Christmas Market will be held over on Saturday 4 December in Cleethorpes town centre and alongside some unique traders, there’ll be fun and entertainment and special appearances.

However, the decision has been made to relocate the market indoors to encourage as many visitors as possible to enjoy the experience.

Working together with St Peter’s Church, the council has been able to move the market traders inside the church itself to make sure the festive shopping extravaganza can go ahead.

Cllr Callum Procter, Cabinet member for tourism, said: “Officers have been monitoring the weather for Cleethorpes this weekend, and the conditions for an outside market are really borderline, with increasing potential of rain, and winds strong enough to make standard gazebos unstable. We really needed to make the call a couple of days ahead to allow traders time to look at their stock levels and potentially alter what they want to display. I’ve supported the decision to move the market indoors to make sure traders and the entertainment can go ahead.

“It’s just really unfortunate that we’ve had to move both Grimsby Market last week and this week’s Cleethorpes markets indoors. I’d like to thank all at St Peter’s Church for stepping in and helping us put on this Christmas Market for everyone, and I hope people come along to support local traders at this time.”

Organised by the Council, the market will feature stalls from local artists and artisan makers, jewellery and vintage, and local food and drink.

There will also be entertainment in and around the church to enjoy as you shop (weather permitting!). There will be special appearances through the day, including Singing Church Mice, Christmas Baubles, Charlie the Elf and even Father Christmas, just perfect for some family fun and selfie opportunities.

To support the market, and all traders, parking at many of the resort’s car parks will be free as part of Small Business Saturday.

Parking will be free at:

  • Meridian Craft Units, Cleethorpes
  • High Street, Cleethorpes
  • St Peter’s Avenue, Cleethorpes
  • Town Hall/Cambridge Street, Cleethorpes
  • Wardall Street, Cleethorpes
  • Grant Street, Cleethorpes
  • Thrunscoe Land, Cleethorpes
