Fostering a child is a wonderful opportunity, with the potential to change the life of a young person for the better.

In North East Lincolnshire more and more people are considering becoming foster carers following a campaign over the summer.

Now, the Council are to host a virtual question and answer session over Facebook Live, giving people the chance to put their questions about fostering to a local foster carer and a qualified social worker.

People interested in fostering in North East Lincolnshire will be able to tune in from home or elsewhere via a mobile device to ask questions about the fostering process, training, assessment and allowances.

Speaking ahead of the Q&A, the portfolio holder for children and education at North East Lincolnshire Council, Councillor Margaret Cracknell, said:

“There are a lot of people in our communities who may be curious about what it’s like being a foster carer, who can foster and what the requirements are.

“These question and answer sessions are an opportunity for people to ask those burning questions and hear from someone who is a foster carer, who has been through the application and assessment process, and knows about how rewarding it can be.

“I’d encourage anyone interested in becoming a foster carer to tune in to the Q&A to find out more.”

The Fostering Q&A Session will take place on Wednesday 9 October from 5:30pm onwards, and will include a foster carer and a social worker from North East Lincolnshire.

To tune in, visit www.facebook.com/NELCouncil on Wednesday evening.
