A Jobs Fair will take place at Grimsby Town Hall next week to showcase the wealth of jobs available in the childcare sector, with some carrying cash incentives.

A job in early years and childcare is unique and rewarding. You get to be part of a child’s early education and help to shape their future. No matter what the day brings, you’ll feel joy in seeing children grow, learn and flourish. And there are lots of different types of roles available, from pre-school and nursery practitioners to childminding and before and after-school clubs.

The recruitment event will take place on Saturday March 23 at Grimsby Town Hall, from 10am to 3pm. Local childcare training providers Pacey will be on hand to talk to people who are thinking of becoming childminders. They can discuss the training available locally, as well as local early years and childcare providers who have vacancies available. Families Information Service will also be there to talk to parents who may be thinking about a job in the sector and also to discuss their own childcare needs.

The Do something big – Early Years Careers campaign is a nationwide recruitment plan to encourage more people to consider jobs working in the early years. North East Lincolnshire Council is part of a pilot scheme which could provide new or returning recruits to the sector a £1,000 tax free lump sum after they have successfully completed their probationary period.

Cllr Margaret Cracknell, Portfolio Holder for Children and Education, said the Jobs Fair is a fantastic opportunity for those looking for a career change, a new career, or returning to the childcare sector to see what is available for them in the region.

“Working with children is a rewarding career and there is more than one way to do it. If you want to work from home you can find out how to become a registered childminder, or you  can speak to local childcare providers and see what vacancies they have available. Training providers will be on hand to show you what training and qualifications are available locally.

“Come along to the Jobs Fair and see for yourselves. It may be that you have never considered a job like this before, but this event might give you a whole new perspective. Working with children is so rewarding and you will be helping to shape the lives of our future adults.”
