Ship sanitation inspections and ships water sampling


The ports of Grimsby and Immingham handle approx 40,000 vessel movements per year and the Grimsby and Immingham Port Health inspectors visit these vessels to issue Ship Sanitation Exemption or control certificates.

Ship inspection

The inspections consist of checks on crew and passenger health, infectious disease control, food hygiene, water and food sampling, the sanitary condition of the ship, pest control (which includes the issue of Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificates or Sanitation Control Certificates as required under the International Health Regulations and Public Health (Ships) Regulations).

Ships water sampling

We also provide a ships water sampling service which can be part of the Ship inspection (as above) or it can be requested on its own even if no inspection is required. The samples will be taken and then submitted for bacteriological examination to the laboratory .There is a charge for this service. There is a charge for this service and a laboratory report will be provided together with a certificate.
