Report a lost dog

To report your dog as lost then please complete our Lost or found dog form.

An officer will take details of your dog and contact you should the animal be collected by a council officer. Please also check the Sangreat Kennels website for details of animals already in their care.

Stray dogs

If you have you seen a dog that is not contained or secured then we are unable to deal with this. If you have concerns about a dog’s welfare, please contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234999. Any dangerous dogs must be reported to Humberside Police on 101.

All stray dogs can be taken to our kennelling facility Sangreat Kennels at Scawby, Brigg, DN20 9AA, or a council officer can collect a stray dog from you within our working hours.

Please note that dogs will only be accepted during the times noted below.

Please ring Sangreat kennels beforehand on 01652 652453 to ensure they have facility to take the dog. They cannot take the dog if there is no facility.

You may also wish to try and contact local ‘Lost and found’ websites/social media sites to see if you can find the owner.

Owners collecting their dog from either Doughty Road Depot or Sangreat Kennels will be charged a fee which must be paid prior to the dog being released to you.

Fees

  • £85 (includes statutory fee) – When reunited with owner by a council officer at Doughty Road Depot during the hours stated
  • £130 (includes statutory fee) plus £21.50 kennel fee (per calendar day) – When reunited with owner at Sangreat Kennels, only where a council officer has transferred the dog to Sangreat Kennels
  • £25 (statutory fee) plus £21.50 kennel fee (per calendar day) – When reunited with owner at Sangreat Kennels, where there has been no involvement by a council officer
  • £110 stray dog return (delivery fee from Sangreats to NE Lincs) – When a council officer transports a dog to its owner from Sangreat Kennels

North East Lincolnshire Council collection

North East Lincolnshire Council does not provide a 24 hour service for stray dogs. However, the council can collect a stray dog from you between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday (except bank holidays).

Officers will undertake initial identity checks during these times, and where possible, owners will be notified and asked to collect their animal.

Where owners cannot be contacted and reunited with their dog during these times, the dog will be transferred into the care of our partners Sangreat Kennels at Scawby, Brigg, DN20 9AA.

Re-homing of unclaimed stray dogs

Dogs for re-claiming and re-homing are available from Sangreat Kennels.

The breed, size and age of dogs can change daily so you are encouraged to contact them first if you’re looking to give a dog a good home. You can view the dogs currently available for re-homing on the Sangreat Kennels website.

  • Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm
  • Sunday and bank holidays 1pm to 4pm
