North East Lincolnshire residents have been welcomed this week to an event at their local Family Hub to showcase the activities and opportunities on their doorstep.

The Best of You event took place on Monday 15 July at Nunsthorpe and Bradley Family Hub, giving visitors the chance to find out more about what’s on offer around the borough.

With stalls from Grimsby Learning Centre, Lincs Inspire, Franklin College’s adult learning provision and many more, there was plenty of information available to attendees, covering everything from training and employability to health and wellbeing to childcare providers.

Visitors were also given the chance to book onto a free ‘Introduction to Paediatric First Aid’ course taking place in the Nunsthorpe Hub in September, as well as being entered into a raffle with prizes donated from some of the great local businesses in our patch.

North East Lincolnshire Council’s Skills and Employment Lead, Amy Gresham, spoke about the importance of local events in making adults aware of what opportunities are on offer.

Amy said: ‘’There’s lots going on to support adults in their learning and training, no matter what their age or experience. It’s never too late to get back into education, start a new career pathway, or do it just for fun.

“It’s important we continue working as a team with all the skills providers in North East Lincolnshire through events like this to make people aware of the options available.”

Speaking ahead of the event, Councillor Philip Jackson, Leader and Portfolio Holder for Economy, Regeneration, Devolution and Skills, said:

“We have a number of incredibly exciting opportunities across the many different industries in North East Lincolnshire, and we want to encourage people to make the most of this.

“Events like this are a great way for local communities to engage with providers and find out about the fantastic opportunities on their doorstep.”

The Family Hubs aim to make a positive difference to parents, soon-to-be parents, carers, and their children by joining-up services, making them easier to access and being seen as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for support. The hubs also host training and careers events for anyone looking to either upskill or learn something new.

The next free training sessions at the Family Hubs are taking place in September, where there will be the chance to book onto courses including English, Maths or Makaton, with an advisor on hand to offer careers advice and guidance:
