General

North East Lincolnshire Council and its regeneration partner, EQUANS, are carrying out maintenance works on ditches rear of Broadway in Grimsby and Ludgate Close in Waltham.

Broadway, Grimsby

This ditch provides an important drainage outfall for land and the highway along both Bradley Road and Little Coates Road. The ditch currently has a large amount of debris within the channel which may slow the flow of surface water and increase the risk of flooding to the highway.

The contractor will be removing the debris from the channel and clearing out silt which will increase the channel’s capacity. The work is planned to begin on Wednesday 7 September and will take approximately five working days to complete.

Ludgate Close, Waltham

The prolonged dry spell has allowed significant amounts of vegetation to build up in this ditch which needs to be removed to ensure that the ditch will work effectively and to prevent future blockages. The removed vegetation will be placed on the adjacent bank while fly tipped material and large debris will be removed from site.

Further work will be done to trim the vegetation on the bank in some sections where it has grown out into the channel and is obstructing flow.

The work is planned to begin during week commencing Monday 12 September and will take approximately four working days to complete.

North East Lincolnshire Council, EQUANS and contractor Civil Engineering Specialist would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
