Young people between the ages of 10-21 are being offered an exciting new summer experience this August as part of the Grimsby Creates Noise Summer School.

NEL Music Hub are hosting a summer school in partnership with Grimsby Creates this summer between 23 and 27 August, at Grimsby Institute.

The summer school will focus on five different art forms within music technology and dance music, including rapping/lyric writing, DJ skills, music production, street dance and beatboxing. Young people will experience a full day workshop on each art form, with a small performance at the end of each day.

To suit the wide range of ages involved in the project, participants will be allocated a group alongside other students of their age bracket.

Zoe Everatt from NEL Music Hub, explained how the sessions would run. “We’re really excited to have Noise Academy from Lincoln delivering this with us. They are real experts in the music technology and dance music field, both as professional artists and as educators. This is such an exciting opportunity for young people to experience something different, and engage with and make music in a brand new way.”

The cost is £30 for the week, or £50 after the early bird price ends on 19th July. There are a limited number of places allocated to any family who might not be able to pay the fee, young people can access a voucher code via their school or college.

To sign up to the summer school please email [email protected], and you will be sent a link to the sign up page.

The young people on the course will have the chance to perform at a street jam, as part of a free Grimsby Creates Noise festival in the newly refurbished St James Square, on Friday 3 September.

Alongside the street jam, you can expect global sounds, urban arts, breathtaking dance, at this brand new festival which is sure to make Grimsby heard. More details will be released about the festival in the coming weeks.
