North East Lincolnshire has launched a new school admissions system, offering a more streamlined experience for parents applying for school places.
This platform is a key component of a comprehensive initiative to consolidate five distinct systems into a single platform, whilst ensuring that parents can apply for their children’s school places and receive updates on the admission process and development.
The new system is now ‘live’ with a Parent Portal available via the School Admissions website.
Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:
“This will be a welcome update for parents and carers of school-age children in our area.
“I know that applying for a school place for your child can be a stressful and very heavy decision, and we wanted a very solid process in place so our parents aren’t left not knowing whether their child has a place or not.
“We are doing work in the coming months with our family hub teams to ensure that families who do not have access to digital devices can go to their local hub and get support.
“This system, I’m hopeful, will make the process simpler for parents.”
If you have a school-aged child that is looking for an alternative school placement or you are new to the area, you can now submit your application online and track the process of this application via your own Parent account.
If your child is nearing the age for them to apply to Start School for the first time (Reception Year), transition from Infant to Junior school, or move from Primary to Secondary School in September 2025, details can be found on the School Admissions website which outlines the phased-application process and the dates for the portal to open based on criteria.
All details about school admissions and the range of options have been updated on the school admissions web page and further guidance is available on the Parent Portal.
Parents who do not have access to digital devices can still apply for a school place for their child using a paper form through the Council’s admissions team.
Paper applicants will not be able to access details about the outcome for their child online and there may be a delay in receiving the information through the post.
