North East Lincolnshire Council and its delivery partner, Equans, are happy to announce the slipway repairs to the North Promenade have begun.

A few weeks ago, the slipway at the Wonderland end of the North Promenade was damaged due to a combination of high tides and wave action. There was a strong onshore wind which increased wave energy and height.

Materials for the slipway repairs have arrived, including specialised repair mortar suitable for a marine environment, and the works have now begun.

The works should be completed by the end of next week (Friday 2 February), however this is subject to tidal cycles. Once the works are fully complete, the slipway can be used again.

North East Lincolnshire Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environment and Transport, Cllr Stewart Swinburn said: “I would like to thank those involved for ensuring this work is being completed as quickly as possible following the recent storm, which took its toll on this area of slipway. With weather patterns becoming increasingly unpredictable coastal areas around the country will, I am sure, be seeing more of this in the future.”
