The annual Family Hub fun days were back in full force and even better than ever this summer, bringing together lots of fun activities, attractions and organisations offering advice and guidance to families during the school holiday.
The seven Best Start Family Hubs, run by North East Lincolnshire Council, each hosted their third annual family fun days over July and August.
This year, over 1,400 people from across the local community attended the free events during the summer holidays.
Our Family Hubs strive to bring joy to local families, supporting them for the full six-week holidays with events and activities right in the heart of the communities.
From 10am till 2pm, families were welcomed to engage in activities, dance along to the DJ and dress-up in character for the day.
With something for all ages, there was a crafts table, prize bingo, face painting and so much more.
The Family Hub Fun Days provided a welcoming, inclusive and accessible opportunity for families to connect, learn and thrive together. By bringing services directly into communities in a fun and engaging way, the events strengthened relationships between families and local support networks, increased awareness of available help, and reduced barriers to accessing services.
Held during the six-week school holidays, this year’s theme was ‘Princesses and Pirates’, which added to the experience.
Each Family Hub also handed out school readiness packs and educated families through the local partners supporting the day.
Councillor Samuel Grice, deputy leader of North East Lincolnshire Council and portfolio holder for children and education, said the fun days had been a success:
“I’ve been impressed by the many local services that turned out to support these events.
“The number of families who came along to the fun days really shows how much they’re loved. These events are really important not just to give families something extra to do in the summer, but also for the information that parents can get about services in their area.
“I’m really pleased to see that these events were once again a success and want to thank the staff in our Family Hubs for helping to bring them to life.”
