Residents will have the opportunity to hear how their ideas are helping to shape the future of their communities at a special Pride in Place Meet the Board event on Wednesday 28 October, between 2pm and 7pm at Oasis Academy, Immingham.

The event follows a summer engagement programme carried out by the Pride in Place Board, which saw board members and partners spend three weeks in Immingham and Habrough speaking directly with local people about what matters most to them and how Pride in Place funding should be invested. This engagement took place prior to the recent inclusion of Stallingborough in the Pride in Place programme.

More than 150 residents and young people took part in open pop-up sessions and community group discussions across Immingham and Habrough, while a further 125 people completed a community survey.

The findings revealed a strong sense of pride in the area, alongside a clear message that investment should focus on creating opportunities for young people, improving community safety and enhancing local spaces.

Among the most popular quick-win projects identified by residents were:

  • A shuttle bus connection between Habrough and Immingham
  • Improved public toilet provision
  • A BMX or pump track at Spring Street Park Residents also highlighted three key themes they believe should be prioritised:
  • Tackling anti-social behaviour and crime prevention
  • Supporting young people
  • Strengthening community and place-based improvements
  • Young people called for better and more exciting park equipment, a greater variety of activities and clubs, improved wellbeing support and more facilities such as a BMX track. Adults supported many of the same priorities, while also identifying the need for improved transport links, accessibility improvements, CCTV and enhancements to the town centre.
  • Looking ahead, residents expressed ambitions for larger-scale investments including a youth club, a community centre, improved leisure facilities and more retail, shopping and food options within the area.

The Meet the Board event will give residents from all three locations the chance to review the findings, which will form part of a 10-year vision for the area, and will be submitted to Government later this year.  A draft plan of the vision will be available to read here from October 28: Immingham, Habrough & Stallingborough Neighbourhood Board | NELC

Katie Brown, Interim Chair of the Pride in Place Board, said:

“We would like to thank everyone who took the time to speak with us, complete surveys and share their ideas. The message we’ve heard is clear – people are proud of their towns and want to see investment that supports young people, strengthens communities and improves local facilities.

“The Meet the Board event is an important opportunity for residents to see how their feedback is shaping plans for the future and to help us refine our priorities before we finalise our vision for the next 10 years.”

Elaine Norton, Vice Chair of the Pride in Place Board, said:

“The response from residents has been incredibly valuable and has given us a clear understanding of what matters most to people living in Immingham, Habrough and Stallingborough. We’re committed to ensuring local voices remain at the heart of our plans, and this event is another opportunity for residents to help shape the future of their communities.

“We want people to come along, meet the Board, see how their ideas and feedback are influencing our priorities, and continue working with us to create a long-term vision that reflects the ambitions and aspirations of local people.”

Residents are encouraged to drop in at any point between 2pm and 7pm to find out more, meet board members and continue the conversation about the future of their community. Free snacks will be available.
